We Did a Thing

2 min read

You may have seen the Facebook post I made saying that we did a thing. Now I get to tell you about it. You'll maybe be a bit surprised. At around 4:45 p.m. my mom texts me and asks a very loaded question. "Would you possibly want a kitten?"

If you've been with us for a while now, you know that we lost our cat Snowy on May Day. And then we just lost Chloe two weeks ago. So, the last thing we were considering was getting another pet. But Colt and I talked it over and we decided we would take her. Mom said she was about five months old and very hungry. And that she was friendly and she could pick her up. She sent photos and she looked a lot like our Snowy. That made Colt tear up. We both miss him very much. We had decided we'd come get her on Sunday and take her home. And you would think that was the end of this story. But it is not.

There was another kitten there too. And she was smaller. Maybe about a month old or so and very sad/scared. But seemed to have latched on to the cat we were going to adopt. My mom called around 7:45 and told us all of this. That's when we knew that we couldn't just take the older kitten without taking the baby too. We had a decision to make and while we had not anticipated taking in a new cat, two was a lot...considering we already have four.

We talked about it and decided we'd take them both. Yeah, I know. Six cats! But it felt like the right thing to do. We may regret this decision.

Mom told us we should probably come get them tonight. We hopped in the car to go pick them up. Meet our newest coven members.
